Working alongside EllisDon and Modern Niagara, Blue-Con Construction played a key role in the earthworks for the first phase of Fanshawe College’s Campus Energy Centre (CEC), a groundbreaking initiative to modernize campus energy infrastructure. This phase introduced a state-of-the-art chilled water facility, supporting the College’s goal to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 50% below 2013 levels by 2050. Blue-Con’s expertise in excavation and site preparation enabled the seamless installation of underground infrastructure, including over 1.5 km of pre-insulated piping. In 2023, Blue-Con Construction partnered with Sierra Construction on the Woodstock Soprema project. This job involved a full civil package, including site prep, earthworks, and servicing. To optimize costs and sustainability, Blue-Con proposed using an on-site borrow pit to reduce the need for imported fill, lowering expenses and minimizing the project's carbon footprint. Additionally, Blue-Con provided Value Engineering recommendations to the general contractor and owner, leading to a more efficient retaining wall design and further cost savings.
